El Rincon (653 St. Clair Avenue West)

A nice mexican restaurant on downtown area with patio space available in the summer. Plenty selection on their menu! Size was pretty big and tasty.

Chicken burrito

Chicken Enchiladas

I don't remember what this dish called but its the one with the deep-fried corn tortilla shell and covered with beans on top.

Mole poblano sauce and I believe this is made from chocolate. It goes well on chicken.

Last but not least, my enormous 10 taco platter (5 chicken, 5 beef). I finished it with struggle and had trouble walking afterwards. I will never do this again.

Overall, very nice mexican place. Even better in the summer when you can enjoy it outside in the patio.

Best sushi ever! Gonoe Sushi (1310 Don Mills Road North York, ON M3B 2W6)

This is my favourite's sushi place in Toronto. Nothing beats its freshness, size and quality. Plus, its located next to a popular roti shop, Island Foods.

We always ordered the small sushi and maki combination. Notice the 5 pieces of white sushi in the dish below. Those are the best of all! Hamachi and butter fish. They taste buttery and they taste even better with a hint of lemon.

So far, this is the best sushi place ever. Nothing beats it!

La Taquiza (3175 Rutherford Rd, unit 28) 905 669 2277

Liz and I tried this place because RFD has recommended this place. They have their own salsa bar which is nice. You can mix your own salsa using regular salsa, medium, hot or very hot salsa. Lime and coriander are also available.

We started of with the traditional lightly nachos and guacamole for $5.25. They are very good. In fact, I can eat this all day!

Next, we tried the aztec soup made with chicken broth, corn tortilla, avocado and cheese.
For the main entree we tried a mexican dish called huaraches (translation means "sandal") with corizo (mexican sausage). We never had this before and I wanted to try it after reading the description (sandal-like dish, lol). Notice how the corn tortilla is shaped like a flat sandal. This is very yummy!
We also tried chicken tinga tacos with a side serving of beans. These are good too! You can fill the tacos with all the salsa you want from the salsa bar which is nice.

Overall, this is a very nice mexican place. I will definitely be coming back here whenever I am going to Vaughan Mills.

The Fish House (7501 Woodbine Avenue, Markham)

Liz and I tried The Fish House on Feb 26, 2010. They have variety of seafoods (king crabs, lobster, mussels, variety of fish, etc). You can get your fish grilled, blackened, poach, etc.

I had the Chilean Sea Bass Grilled with mashed sweet potatoes and grilled vegetable. It was so good!

I will definitely come back to try the Fish n Chips!

Ribs at Highway 61

Highway 61 - 1620 Bayview Ave

So I must say that this is the first time I was not able to finish a full rack of ribs. Liz and I had a full rack (10 bones) of ribs at Highway 61 (http://www.highway61.ca/). We were only able to finish 6 bones. Pics for you guys.

Aoyama Sushi (2766 Victoria Park Ave)

This is the Omakase-style sushi restaurant called Aoyama that Liz and I tried few months ago. Place was quite busy. You have to call in first to make sure they have free tables. People normally call in advance to make a reservation.

We had the 7-set dinner course ($60). The first one is a seaweed salad. It was really good!

Next, we had tuna tatake (thinly sliced raw tuna). No picture here sorry! My stomach went ahead to eat the dish without remembering me to take a picture first!

Then we had the lobster tail with butter sauce. This was the best of all the dishes we had.

Classic tempura. Well battered and crispy!

Next is mushroom soup served in a little teapot. Very cool.

Last, this is what we have been waiting for all along. SUSHI!!! This was the first time I had the salmon roe and I DID NOT like it at all. The rest are amazingly fresh, tasty and buttery.

Green tea for dessert. No picture here too since we were too full to take one!

Cheers!
